Frequently Asked Questions

What professional framework do you work within?

I am a psychologist with a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, non-BIG registered, and commonly referred to in practice as a “basispsycholoog” in the Netherlands.

I work independently under Dutch law as a non-medical practitioner, which means I do not provide diagnoses or clinical treatment.

In my practice, I am committed to high professional standards and voluntarily align my work with established best practices. This includes following the ethical principles of integrity and responsibility set out by the Dutch Association of Psychologists (NIP) and ensuring that all personal data is handled securely in accordance with Dutch and European privacy regulations. My process is built on the principle of informed consent, providing clients with clarity regarding my methods and our working framework. Furthermore, I ensure transparency and accountability by providing access to an independent complaints committee should any concerns arise.

What kind of support do you offer?

I offer a supportive space where we explore your thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and relational patterns. Together, we look at what may be happening beneath the surface and how your personal and cultural background shapes your experiences and way of relating to yourself and others. Sometimes the focus may be on healing past wounds, sometimes on practical strategies, and other times on deepening self-awareness.

Areas of Support

Burnout & Stress Management: We work together towards recovery and prevention from feeling overwhelmed by professional or personal demands.

Anxiety-like States & Inner Unrest: Supporting you in finding calm and regulation of your nervous system when facing periods of high tension or worry.

High Sensitivity (HSP): Helping you understand your sensitive nervous system and turning it into a strength rather than a source of overwhelm.

Life Transitions: Guidance through the “in-between” phases of life, such as career changes, loss, or personal transformations.

Expat Life & Cultural Transitions: Navigating the unique emotional hurdles of moving abroad, identity shifts, and building a sense of “home” in a new environment.

Low or Depressed Moods: Compassionate companionship through seasons of somberness, lack of motivation, or low energy.

Do I need to have a specific problem to start?

Not at all. You don’t need to be in a crisis or have a clearly defined issue. Many people come simply with a sense that something feels off, or with curiosity to understand themselves and their patterns better.

Do I need a referral from my GP (General Practitioner)?

No, you don’t need a referral from your GP. My work is non-medical and focused on personal exploration and growth, which means you can contact me directly to get started.

How do I get started?

You can reach out via email to schedule an initial conversation. This first step is an opportunity to see if we are a good fit.

Can I start the sessions without the free intro call?

No. I see the intro call as an essential part of the process. It gives us a chance to connect, and to gently explore whether working together would feel supportive and appropriate for you.

What happens during the free intro call?

The Free Intro Session is a gentle conversation where I get to understand your needs and what brings you here, and you can get a sense of how I work and whether it feels right for you. I intend to explore together whether continuing to work together would be supportive and helpful for you.

How long does the process take?

This varies for each person. Some people come for a few sessions to explore a specific topic, while others engage in a longer-term process of self-discovery and growth. We regularly reflect together on what feels right for you.

How often do we meet?

Most people choose to meet weekly or biweekly, especially at the beginning. We can adjust the frequency based on your needs and rhythm.

Can we work together if I do not live in Rotterdam or the Netherlands?

Yes, absolutely. Since sessions take place online, I work with clients across different countries, and also with those who value the flexibility of connecting remotely.

What languages do you offer sessions in?

Sessions are available in English and Romanian.

Is the cost of the sessions reimbursed by health insurance?

Sessions are not reimbursed by health insurance. This is because my work is non-medical and independent of insurance systems, allowing for a more flexible and personalised approach, as well as shorter waiting times.

Do you offer any discounts?

Yes. Reduced rates are available for students, unemployed individuals, people on parental leave, and single parents.
